I dunno. I’m left conflicted. There’s some intrinsic value in the creative process that provides a sense of satisfaction for you, and an appreciation of your work by your audience. A few examples:

– photography evolved from 35mm, to point-and-shoot, to DLSRs, and now camera phones. It used to be required that you knew about aperture, shutter speed, lighting, “pushing” the film speed, etc. Now anybody can take a picture with their phone that in many cases is better than the best you can do with a DSLR. Everybody’s a photographer.

– Visual Design. Artists used to struggle to conceptualize the right image(s) to support everything from a brand launch to a work of fiction. Plus they had to know PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc. Now, not so much. Everybody’s a visual designer.

– Writing. Think this one is the my (un)favs. Knowledge of basic writing skills, storytelling, grammatical constructs, wit…these used to be the mark of a good writer. Now, everybody’s an author.

I think that people delegating more and more creative responsibility to AI, not only stunts their growth…it seems like cheating. I’m sure AI will someday write a better version of War & Peace 😑

Dunno… I might be a Luddite… but I’m of the school that you work and revise and hone and sweat at your craft. “Keep working until you’re proud” was the phrase in a piece of Dove candy recently. Touché.

    Things are changing, so must we .
    AI is a best friend for the lazy but a great weapon for worriors like you Darryl who believe in hard.
    You have to use AI to keep up with the pace or be left behind. AI is the future.
